LOCATION: Fort Pickens is located on the west end of Santa Rosa Island. From Pensacola, take U.S. Highway 98 East to Gulf Breeze, then follow the signs to Pensacola Beach. After crossing the bridge to Pensacola Beach, take the beach road west, to the right. The group campsite is located 4 miles west of the entrance station, just past Battery Langdon, on the right.
ACTIVITIES: Activities include camping, fishing, hiking (Fort Pickens Historical Trail), picnicking and swimming.
FACILITIES: The group campsite has flush toilets, showers and a campfire circle. The campsite also has picnic tables and grills.
FEES: The fees for the group campground are $1.00 per night per person.
SITE: The group camping area is located within easy walking distance from the Gulf of Mexico and the Santa Rosa Sound. Out of town Boy Scout Troops, can hike the Pensacola Downtown Historical Trail on the morning before you leave. It only takes a few hours. Or if you'd like to stay an extra day, the Historical Trail aboard NAS is just a short drive away.
