LOCATION: Fort Clinch State Park is located near Fernandina Beach, off U.S. A1A.

ACTIVITIES: Activities include camping, primitive camping, Atlantic Ocean swimming, surf and pier fishing, hiking and candlelight tours of the fort. The Fort Clinch Historic Trail starts and ends in the park and the Fort Clinch Nature Trail is entirely contained in the park. (see hiking section for further information on these and other hiking trails) Special full-garrison re-enactments by Union re-enactors occur annually in May and by Confederate re-enactors in October.

FACILITIES: The park offers bathrooms, showers, drinking water and electrical hookups in the regular campsites. There is also a primitive youth camping area, which does not have a water source. Contact the park for fees and restrictions.

SITE: Covering 1,121 acres on the north end of Amelia Island, Florida's northernmost barrier island on the east coast. It is separated from the state of Georgia by Cumberland Sound. The park has 8,400 feet of shoreline along the sound. The eastern boundary covers 4,000 feet of Atlantic coast, and the west is bounded by an extensive estuarine marsh system.
